Book Meme Stick Whupping

Harvey at Bad Example has been sending this book meme around and gbfan at Spotted Horse wanted to see my answers to these questions. Here we go.......

1. You’re stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be? Believe it or not, I have never read any of Bradbury's works. So, I have to claim ignorance. But, if I could be any book, it would be a Braille version of Playgirl. Think about it.

2. Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character? If we are talking about animation or the like, why yes! Can I claim almost all the women illustrated in Heavy Metal, crank my damn tractor?

3. The last book you bought is: Actually Old Man and the Sea. I haven't read it since high school and that was almost before it was written.

4. The last book you read: Just finished the Dark Tower VII. Damn, I thought King would never get through that series and it was plum weird. But it does explain alot to me. Oh, did you know that it is non-fiction?

5. What are you currently reading? Mission Compromised by Oliver North. Man, he has all my respect. Ollie for President in 2008. Do you think that we would have any problems with the radical Muslims then?

6. Five books you would take to a deserted island.
A. The Fountainhead - Ayn Rand One of the best of all time. Plus it's kinda relevent to my profession.
B. Atlas Shrugged - Ayn Rand Possibly the longest book that I have ever read that kept my attention the whole time. Also, it put a name to what I have believed my entire life even while growing up with hippie, dope-smoking parents.
C. Call of the Wild - Jack London Anything by London always seems to bring out the best in me. Just gotta have that blood flowing. Plus, dog fighting is cool. jk
D. Postcards From the Edge - Carrie Fisher I have read every book that she has written and I just can't quit. I guess the drug abuse, alcoholism, and mental problems just appeal to me. What a woman! And she looked so damn hot in that gold bikini thing. Even with Michael Moore standing over her.
E. Burn Down the Night Craig Key Street This book was written by an Indian (Feather kind, not red dot) that used to hang out with Jim Morrison in the early days and it was too cool. Again, the drug usage and stupid stuff that Jim and his very own Tonto accomplish are legendary.

Remember kids, drugs are bad. I just like reading about the stupid things that people do when they are trashed.

Leave your answers in the comments if ya' wanna.

I have read all of Carrie Fisher's books too. I think I too am fascinated by the whole drug addled lifestyle and how long it takes someone to see how stupid they are.
Did you really have dope smoking hippie parents in Mississippi??????

Hey Two Dogs.......I am currently reading "My Pet Goat". I really find it a fascinating read, filled with many twists and turns. I can certainly understand why Our President found it hard to put down during the attacks of 911.

soundboyz, I am glad that Michael Moore can actually get you to read. Do some checking on what Bush was reading that day. My Pet Goat is from the Moore movie which was FICTION. Trust me, that is NOT what the title of the story is.

RWS, yes I am proud to admit that my parents both grew up with the silver spoon. My dad's father was a walk-off from the reservation that from the time he was 13 really applied himself and achieved the American dream. My father was never deprived of anything and actually was the poster child for 'spare the rod'.

I was the pierced ear four year old and grew up pretty much on a bus throughout the 60's with a hash pipe and love beads always within reach. I turned from that lifestyle in 1983 with the help of the love and guidance of the great State of Mississippi and have never looked back.

Hey, here's the kicker, throughout my childhood, my grandfather was always the one in my life that instilled a sense of family and community in my head. When he died, I was nineteen and I changed everything in my life and to this day, I have continued to raise my mother to the best of my ability. Trust me, it ain't easy.

Imara, please tell me that you don't actually believe anything that the hack Moore has to spew. It has to be painfully obvious that he hates his country. Not only that, there is nothing that is true about the personna that he has slaved to create. A very short cursory search on Google will show you that not only is he NOT from Flint, Michigan, he is the offspring of radical American hating parents that were just like my folks, given everything from the very beginning.

The primer that Bush was reading had a story with a title that was similar to My Pet Goat, but that was not the story he was reading and it was not on the cover. Please folks, y'all are smarter than that. To make that comment that you are surprised that Bush can read, while cute, is actually demeaning to you if you believe it. Man, I just could not stand it if I thought the most powerful man on the planet couldn't read.

Oh, by the way, it ain't easy to get an MBA from Havard.

Imara, never fear about asking anything about me. I post here with my opinion and lay it all out, if I can't take a little criticism, man I better take my purse and head to the house. Anyway, yes my parents gave me the opportunity to see firsthand how idiotic liberalism is. Very immpressionable youngsters should be shielded from the radical views of the left until they have the necessary knowledge to confront the asinine opinions of the left. Why do you think that the colleges try to inundate our kids with this nonsense? Because if they don't the radical leftist ideas that they have been pushing for so long will die. And that's a good thing.

The book was some type of primer for elementary school. I have no idea what the name of the primer was but I'm guessing that it had a common type name for a school book.

Moore proves that he hates the premises that our country was founded on by producing the America hating screeds that he makes. From Roger and Me, Bowling for Columbine, and finally F911 all movies pointed toward the blame the US for all of these problems.

My problem with Leftist mentalities is this: Complain all you want to but your policies have been tried many times in the past and have always failed. Look at Cuba, do you actually want to live there? Then go see what your ideas accomplish. Look at China, Korea, and Vietnam.

Oh, Bish was not a legacy at Havard. I'm sure that just being a Bush has its perks, but Havard? Come on.

Leftist never want choice for people that disagree with them. They want to force all people to live the way they say is right. Point in case, the vast MAJORITY of people in this country are against gay marriage. The states that actually had referendums on the ballots last November voted overwhelmingly to disallow the practice. Do you think that for one second the Left will just let it go? Of course not, they will use the Ninth Circuit to make it the law of the land. Of course it will be overturned as soon as it is appealed (IE the Pledge), but that's the way the Left operates.

Enter Soundboyz........Two Dogs, I am seriously starting to think that you are just being OUTRAGEOUS now!!!!!!Come on, Mr. Bush WAS reading(trying to) "My Pet Goat". This is not open for debate, like most of your extremist ideas!!!You are trying to frustrate Imara, and I will NOT have any of it!!!Mr. Bush was a legacy at Harvard!!

I see your issue.....You f*#ked up bad as a child , and you put the blame on your parents instead of where it really belongs.Yes, we are all responsible for our actions!!So, to rebel against your parents by embracing some idiotic ideology, is not the right (no pun intended) move. You know better than to believe all the silly stuff you spew.I can tell when someone has common sense, and common sense should dictate that you cannot embrace such crap simply because your parents believed in certain values. It's like the white females that grew up in a racist family, only to exclusively date and marry black men!To exclusively embrace one point of view simply because of one's rebelling of another, is neither healthy or rational! What i'm saying is .........so what....(sorry, been watching to much Frontline).

Two Dogs, you cannot believe the stuff you spew , simply because your parents stood for the opposite. Certainly there are things that you should agree with from both sides. But ,to totally embrace one set of values as a result of rebellion, is limiting your reasoning!

P.s. you must suffer from dyslexia, because it's the Right that forces their beliefs and lifestyles on people. If you don't support gay marrage, then don't marry a dude!!!It's that simple. How does gay marrage affect you? Did it cause the divorce rate of heterosexual couples to reach above 50%? Did it cause marital infedelity of straight marrage to skyrocket? So, how the HELL, does gay marrage affect anyone else?Just like you would want people to respect your views and your lifestyle choice as well as your privacy, so shall you grant these things to others!Stop judging!!!!

Just to end the debate on this goat crap, the book that President Bush was reading was entitled Reading Mastery II: Storybook 1, by Siegfried Engelmann. Contained in this book is a story titled "The Pet Goat". He was not reading that story at the time of the attacks. Bush was NOT a legacy at Harvard. He was however, a legacy at YALE. These are FACTS.

As far as my upbringing, I lived my life the exact way that my parents had taught me until I realized that they were wrong. They had turned away from the church and everything that their parents had taught them and became dropouts like a lot of upper middle class children did in the sixties. I did not rebel against what they were teaching me, I moved out of my parent's house when I was 16 and determined what I could about raising myself in a very tough world.

Finally, the judgment thing rears its ugly head again. I am Catholic and according to my teaching, homosexuality is wrong. That is my belief. However, regarding homosexual marriage, my thinking falls more along the slippery slope line. If you are to condone one type of sexual deviancy, you must come forward and condone others.

Hey, I wanna have sex with My Pet Goat. It should be legal. Trust me folks, that is where this argument heads. If you believe otherwise you are just naive or should be riding the short bus.

Or better yet, what about NAMBLA being able to get their beliefs deemed legal? Sex with a seven year old boy might sound sick to me, but gosh I don't want to judge anyone.

Finally, to force ones beliefs through judicial fiat is what the Left does. If the Congress determines a bill to be good, votes on it, and the President signs it into law, that is not forcing ones beliefs. It is the way the damn country was set up to work. It's the way to do it. If you take something all the way to the Ninth Circuit Court and it determines that your way is good, wait ten minutes, I assure you it's going to get struck down by the Supremes. Learn the Constitution and decide for yourself who is forcing their beliefs on whom.

Wayne World said...

OH.......MY.....GOD!!!!I have to walk around a bit after that one!! Whooo!!! Thank GOD for Imara, because I don't have the patience for these people!!!Tell it on the mountain!!!! If you can't find one, I'll pile up some dirt for you!!!!Yes!

Wayne World said...

But Imara, what gets me is that their arguments don't make any SENSE!!!It has gotten to the point with me where I can't argue just for the sake of arguing. At some point you have to just end it and walk away knowing what you know. It's a game to them to see how much they can lie and manipulate the truth!!It's like arguing with 5 year olds.

Paul Mitchell said...

When I say, "A is A", it doesn't mean that "A is B". That is how our Constitution is written. It does not mention abortion, that is something that is left for the states to decide. That is what the Constitution says. What has happened is that, for instance Roe v. Wade, we have actual Federal precedent for something that should have never left the State court level. Juidicial Fiat occurs when the Imperial Federal Government tries to overstep the boundaries of this The United STATES of America, it is not AMERICA.

Trust me, I don't want homosexuals to marry, and neither do most people. And abortion is wrong, look at the definition at Webster.

Paul Mitchell said...

Webster's: 1 : the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus: as a : spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the first 12 weeks of gestation -- compare, blah, blah, blah.

Resulting in death sounds alot like killing to me.

Adn embryo: 1 a archaic : a vertebrate at any stage of development prior to birth or hatching

Killing people who are vertebrates. And you know it's wrong, imara.

Paul Mitchell said...

Oh, and I actually used the entire string in my definition that you used. I am not arguing the point that there should be legitimate outlets for abortion, my argument is that is a State issue. Just like gay marriage. Keep the judicial fiat outta it. That is the modus operandi for the Liberals though. I can't get Congressmen to pass my pet legislation so I will appeal to the courts.

And no, it is NOT rare. Almost 2/3 of Black babies are aborted. It's terrible and I know plenty of young women that have done it. And no, they weren't my kids.

Wayne World said...

almost 2/3......I question that. Where did you get that from? personal poll?

Paul Mitchell said...

Sorry, Imara, don't mean to pull your chain, but I will post on this in a couple of days. With links to the numbers and misc stuff that you will be interested in. Please understand that I am most definitely making this a racial issue because the abortion rights people are racists. Or did you not read the link that I attached earlier about Planned Parenthood and Margaret Sanger?

Two Dogs... how is it obvious that he hates his country! Is it because he questions the government? The very government that works for US! I have the right to question the job that everyone who works under me does... it's my duty to ensure they are doing the right thing. I'm sure you're aware that he was critical of the Clintons, as well! Was he "hating" his country then?

I will be sure to check out Google.

I clearly saw "MY PET GOAT" on the book... how do you explain that? And if that wasn't the book, what's the signifigance of that title? Moore could have chosen anything.

It's not easy to get an MBA from Harvard... Two Dogs, please tell me that you don't really believe he earned that degree. He was a Legacy applicant that received preferential treatment throughout his entire collegiate career!

Your right, I can't stand it that the most powerful man on the planet can't read! I'll back off, and say maybe he can read, but he surely doesn't read at a MBA from Harvard level! Why is it that he refuses to read his own PDB's or the daily newspapers for that matter? Maybe he has a problem with comprehension.

Radical Leftist! Radical Leftist! If believing that everyone has the right to CHOOSE how they live their life makes me radical... then so be it. LOL!!
