Martin Luther King Jr. - And?

The man in this picture is the Reverend, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was killed in 1968. He was just 39 years old when he was murdered. He gave a big speech on the mall in Washington DC and everyone showed up for it. His speech moved people and then they forgot what he said. Or worse, they couldn't understand.

You have heard alot about his "I Have a Dream" speech. His dream is dead, long ago. There is no one that even tries to abide the lofty standard set by this man. We all want to be part of the hyphenated groups now. Exactly the opposite of what he fought for.

The only reason that the government is shut down today, is that they like holidays. They like getting paid for doing nothing. It is not because of this man. Those people don't understand what he gave his life for.

We have had parades, candle-lighting vigils, protests, and a multitude of other crap in our area. All completely ignored anything this man tried to accomplish.

I am so utterly sick of people talking about how great this guy was, yada, yada, yada, and then they live their lives in direct contradiction to what Dr. King thought was important. So, I refuse to honor him and his ideas, because no one else does.

The country doesn't want the dream anymore. So, so take the holiday and shut up. I'm going back to work.
