The Genius of Frank Lloyd Wright (UPDATED!)

Everyone knows who Frank Lloyd Wright was, but did you know that he was an utter failure as an architect? Every single building that he designed had glaring flaws. Namely water penetration.

Check out his two most famous remaining buildings, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan and Fallingwater in Bear Run, Pennsylvania, you will see those failures. Yeah, they look really cool, but the problems are too severe to overcome.

However, since everyone knows who he was, his buildings that remain standing are still in high demand. What most folks do not know is that rarely did he actually design anything but the very largest commissions after 1932 when he hired Wes Peters. Peters eventually became his son in law as well.

Peters was an MIT engineer, he did not receive his basic knowledge from Wright, he simply received his socialist education from Wright.

But, the photograph shows a Wes Peters house that is currently for sale in Vermont, Wisconsin. Check out the photos and take the tour*. (UPDATE: It was pointed out to me by Christina Jade that Cousin It is in the slideshow, look for him/her/it and laugh.)

The house is 5,200 square feet and has a listing price of two million dollars. That amounts to three hundred eighty-five dollars ($385.00) a square foot. That is close to four times the average home building cost in my area.

Collectivism WORKS, I tell ya'.

Please take the time to comment.

*Yes, I think that it is pretty cool, but I certainly wouldn't want to live in it.

$2M for that?? In Bum-F@#*, WI?! Good luck to that, Mr. Listing Agent. I don't care if Jorn Utzen designed it. It wouldn't fetch $2M here in San Diego, even with an ocean view.

HEH! I still haven't figured out just exactly WHAT that is... :)

Actually, Yiddish Steel, this house is almost halfway between Bumfuck and Asscleavage. But, the folks that worship FLW will want it.

Christina Jade, I received an e-mail from (Dead) Tommy 5 right after your Tweet that was asking what in the mortal Hell that was. I think that your suggestion of Cousin It is the closest that we shall ever come. Thanks for pointing that out, I guess my "architect's" mentality made me overlook that "being."
