Blackuary 7, 0001 AB - Helping the Community (Version 2.0)

So, this week has been a crazy and hectic one, but in the short times that I have off I have helped with several charitable organizations in raising funds or volunteerism. My most memorable one will be the one that occurred this Tuesday. For black history month one of the groups was reading to the kids at the day care center. I loved the idea of interacting with the kids so I quickly signed up. We were supposed to bring a book about black people, but I brought one about a cute stuffed animal named bumbletum who was trying to find what he was best at doing as a toy. Of course, the POC's for this event were not happy and told me to pick from one of their books.

As I perused their section of novella, all I could find were books where every black character was a slave and when they spoke they said the word 'massa'. The topics ranged from picking cotton to old scary black folklore...nothing that a child under five should ever hear...Of course, I read my book.

see, volunteering is a good thing, especially when you CHOOSE to do it instead of being FORCED to. (yes, that was a shot, i know you know what i'm talking about)

next time you get in the community mood, head on up to p-town, i got some trees needin' some work! :)

President Barry wants to FORCE all people to do community service work. Starting with school kids. Part of his "Remove all freedoms" legislation includes mandating 100 hours of community service work a year.
