From the Other Side of the Fence- The Bean Take on Memorial Day

The name Memorial Day is philosophical in meaning. What is a memorial? Is it a grim day for many? Or a celebration for all? From a Bean's eye view, it is a celebration of the few that can no longer stand and teach me to rise in the ranks, much like death is a celebration in New Orleans. I will not forget that those before me gave their lives. But I will not be saddened, even though there is much in my life to be sad about. Instead, I choose to celebrate the joy that they allowed me to have. Memorial day remembers those that are great. And I celebrate their greatness.

I celebrate their families. It is true that families sacrifice the most. Being a spouse, a loved one or a child of a military member is hell and I thank all of you who chose to drive through that hell to stand by your serviceman/woman's side. Thank you to all of the moms, dads, wives, husbands and children. You make joy and peace during war.

I celebrate the civilians who come to work everyday on base. You keep our world going when we are gone. You make continuity when we move to all parts of the world. You teach us civility, respect and good job values. Many of you are veterans and for that I appreciate you even more. Thanks for holding down the fort.

I celebrate the men and women who wake up each day proud to support the men and women who serve. Thank you from the deepest part of my heart. Despite all of the crazed free willie hippies running around, you make me glad that there are a handful that still understand what reality is, that still appreciate that what my brothers and sisters in arms do makes "High Flight" a reality. Thank you for the handshakes, thank you for the texts, thank you for the blog snips, and thank you for just appreciating, because you don't ever have to, yet you choose to.

And to the liberal free willie hippies- Thank you. I will keep fighting so that you may throw your chants, spit and crazy news in my face. I will fight so that you can live until you either die from old age, or wake up to reality. But you will never die from lack of freedom, slavery or those things which my predecessors and current brothers and sisters in arms die to prevent.

Please take the time to comment.

CJ,

Thanks. How's shopping going for you? :-)

LOL! I can't stand shopping anymore. After chopping up all the plastic, it just isn't quite the same!

The best way to go is online shopping! You get the best rates. I even buy groceries online occassionally.

I'm fixing to have one slambanger of a yard sale - so that's like REVERSE shopping! LOL!

As for groceries - I do that at midnight. MUCH easier! :) Where do you buy groceries online?

Well, I'm an easy shopper so i go to places like netgrocer.com, efooddepot.com, and aulsuperstore.com. They all deliver next day within the US.
