The Differences Between Do-ers and Talk-ers Personified

I was reading the Clarion Ledger while sucking down my TRIPLE! bacon/cheese/pickle burger with double fries and I landed on the definitive example of what is the difference between a liberal's NON-SOLUTION to a problem and actual solutions.

This requires your honesty here, and I am trusting you. DO. NOT. CHEAT.

Go read this guest post at the C-L, it is two very short pages. Chew on it for a minute and come back to get my comments on the letter.

DON'T CHEAT DAMMIT!!!

Since you did not cheat, here is my rebuttal:

Did you notice that Von Anderson's "solution" required the formation of EIGHT DIFFERENT government committees and/or programs?

So, I have eight committees to work with in my solution, right?

Committee number one: Garbage committee. Pick up the damned trash on the ABANDONED properties.

Committee number two: Grass cutting committee. Cut the damned grass on the abandoned properties.

Committee number three: Record keeping committee. Keep track of the number of hours spent by the LABORERS and all other expenses on the damned job.

Committee number four: Driving committee. Pick up the welfare recipients from their government subsidized housing to perform the work of the first three committees. (The driving committee also has to take the welfare recipients back to their government subsidized housing.)

Committee number five: Billing committee. Compile all the costs for cleaning up the damned abandoned property and bill that cost to the owner.

Committee number six: Collection committee. Go to where the owner of the abandoned property lives or works and get that DAMNED money.

Committee number seven: Pay-the-Welfare-Recipient committee. Release the government checks to the folks that cleaned up the abandoned property.

Committee number eight: Skipping committee. Do little PROFIT dances and skip gleefully at the BLIGHT problem being solved in Jackson and basically with FREE LABOR and with ONLY EIGHT COMMITTEES.

My work is done, where's my damned check?

Please take the time to comment or click one of the 'Share/Save' buttons. DO IT NOW!

I'm sorry, but the Skipping Committee seems like gratuitous overkill...

Classicaliberal, you must know who we are dealing with as far as welfare recipients in Mississippi. They are good dancers.

I think lost in all of this is the screeching need for a Cladipus Licker Eval Committee, to determine if this paper is even fit to wipe ones' bum widdit.

Yeah, I know: that makes me a WIPEIST!

TD, I think it was in 1976...could have been 1972, that this little Okie guy ran for President on the Democrat side. He was either an Okie Senator, or maybe Governor...I can't remember right now.

That was the first time I had ever heard anybody use the term "workfare." His idea was very similar to yours. Anybody getting a check would have to put in X number of hours per week (unless they were truly unable) in order to stay in their project, and keep the food stamps coming.

He didn't get much support even back when a lot of Democrats were still pissed off at the idea of welfare.

Heck man...maybe it will finally get so bad that common sense "committees" like this will finally be formed. Here in Bossier, if a place looks like crap the city notifies the owner. If they don't take care of it, the City hires somebody, pays them, and puts the bill on the owner. If it's not paid pretty quickly, a lien is laid...not too many property owners ignore it. And, about all it takes to get some action is ONE telephone call to "Property Standards" to get something done.

In Shreveport, it's a whole different story...because people that complain are racists.
