Photo Friday

Our good friend, Andy, went on a stroll in a garden with his wife and her mama today. He got some pretty pictures of flowers and girl stuff.

While Andy was out strolling the pretty yard in Shreveport, I was elsewhere. Which place looks more fun, Andy's or mine?

Dang it, I have to quit posting before looking at everyone's site. Staci has some photos up of her family's...um...STATE or COUNTRY, maybe?

Raked solids being removed from the city of Jackson's raw sewage. Yummy! This is all the stuff that you flush down your toilet, the sinks and lavs, and your dishwasher. PSA: Chicks, please quit flushing those applicators, they all go to the landfill anyway once they are removed from the sewage, and they charge you for it. That is just freaking nasty and it makes your sewage bill cost WAY MORE.

Bacteria being added to the sewage and oxygen being removed. This did not smell too good.

Bacteria being removed from the treated water and re-aerated. This smelled like a dumpster filled with spoiled milk that had been in the desert for months.

Just so you know, the city of Jackson does a fine, fine job with treating your sewage with few chemicals used in the process. The people were competent and very nice, too. And then.....they dump the water that came from your toilet, a mere twelve hours prior, back into the Pearl River. Technically, you could drink the water at the end of this process. I did not, call me crazy.

Paul, I've really been enjoying your blog, but when I get ready to sight-see, I think I'll stick with Andy and go over to the Norton Art Gallery ~

I think I'll pop over to Andy's to get the stink out of my nose.

Thanks for greeting me at 3:30am with...with...the land where libtards are spawned. I knowd they were full of it; now I can see why.

Heh! Dude, were they giving tours or something at the treatment plant?

Thanks for the link, and for the heads up. I'll remember to bring bottled water next time I'm in Jackson...or probably anywhere else.

It's true about those feminine products...no reason to flush 'em. The manufacturers call them "flushable," but they WILL cost you a plumber occasionally.

"...a dumpster filled with spoiled milk that had been in the desert for months." That made me giggle...

Andy, they actually do give tours and stuff, but I took a kid down there to see what the process is for removing poop and reintroducing the water back into nature. Yes, if you canoe or swim on any major waterway on the planet, you are swimming in poop. Technically.

Oh yeah! My water comes from the Red River, and the sewage is also dumped there. It really is quite fascinating the way it is treated.

Nice pics, too!

Just know this, I do not drink water, since yesterday.

We DO drink Bossier City water. But, we have a "British Berkfeld" filter we run it through for drinking first.

Best tasting water on the planet IMHO...friends and neighbors say the same thing about our water. That thing is amazing.

Yeah, I use ours for coffee, too. But, I am no longer liking it. Even though I knew I was drinking poop from upriver, now I see the process.
