AP Weeks 14 & 15

If you want to see how freaking USELESS the APee College Footbaw Poll is, look no further.

If you recall, the Oregon Panty-Wearing Booty-Boys did not play on Week 14. The Barn beat their in-state rival, Bammeroids. But, the APee S-T-I-L-L ranked Oregon over The Barn.

Yesterday, Auburn defeated the SEC Eastern Division Champeens, 'Cocks, in the National World Championship Game. The Barn did this in a fashion that left absolutely no doubt at all that Cam Newton is the only legitimate candidate for the Heisman Trophy and that The Barn is certainly the World Champion.

The Oregon Flamers played their in-state rivals, BEAVERS, yesterday as their final game, because the Nancy Conference, PAC-10, does not play a championship game.

Today, Oregon and The Barn LITERALLY traded the vote count from last week. This totally makes no sense whatsoever if you are trying to make the argument that Oregon deserves to even be in the Top 25.

At the end of the season, let's recap the competition of the two. Keep in mind that both finish the season undefeated and The Barn won the World Championship Game That is Played Every Year in Atlanta, too.

Oregon played ONE TEAM that is ranked in the APee final poll, Stanford. You know that Stanford is not any good, too. Come on, it's FREAKING Stanford.

Auburn played FIVE teams in the final APee poll and defeated one of those TWICE. The fact that there is ONE pollster that would vote for Oregon over Auburn (much less TWENTY-THREE!) PROVES beyond any doubt that the APee is utterly, completely, and totally useless.

Man, I wish someone would come up with a way to have a play-off.

Please take the time to comment.

My pastor's kid won a backstage pass to GameDay. Got to have breakfast with Desmond Howard and have pics taken with Erin. They won the pass in a sign-making contest - their's said "Shut the Duck Up!" My pastor was so proud (not).

Too bad my Beavs were so darned so-so. I suppose we can now find out whether the Pac can run with the SEC.

Clever kid, Inno! At least he avoided the obvious Beavers and 'Cocks reference. Unlike my son-in-law.

Polls are pretty much useless, Paul. Except to get one's blood pressure up and running. This could be one of the most entertaining BCS championship games e-ver! Assuming that one is a fan of bloody slaughters. Or duck gumbo.

Innominatus, pastor's kids are always the trouble makers for some reason. What is up with that?

I am just glad that the team representing the PAC-10 is not uSCCC.

Paul Mitchell said...

Moogie, what does duck gumbo taste like? I could imagine that it would be pretty danged tasty.

Inno: Believe it or not, I've known a preacher's kid or two or three in my life. And, they are the most screwed up of all chirrens...

...a good reason to get out of the biz. Just sayin'.

TD, Newton is a machine. This guy came out of oblivion (at least he was not on my radar), and if he does not win the Heisman, then it is as worthless as the BCS. Whether Daddy got coins or not...this guy is unique amongst athletes.

Now, Roderick...are you listening Roderick? Roderick? It seems that I remember some football expert from the West Coast (that will remain nameless so as not to embarrass) proclaiming early in the season that the SEC is a "one team conference!"

Said expert made it abundantly clear that Alabama would carry the SEC this year, and that everybody else sucked (I'll give ya' credit, you did mention that LSU may have a decent season). But Roderick, my friend...you were wronger than two left shoes. Admit it.

The SEC mopped up the field with quality opponents.

So, here we go...Auburn v. Oregon. I have cautioned for weeks that Oregon could do damage to Auburn because of their speed. Speed is Speed, regardless of the weakness of a schedule. After watching the Ducks v. Beavs (at least some of it), I retract that.

Auburn will win the most lopsided BCS Championship Game yet held. I'm figuring 112 to 9.

Andy, is that three field goals or a TD, no PAT, and a field goal? Or do you think that Oregon will score three safeties and a field goal? Or a safety, TD, and PAT?

Dang, did I miss one?

Andy said...

Naw, you didn't miss one. But I'm going plain vanilla...

3 field goals.

Pity field goals, too.

Hey, thanks for the link.

Oh, and I did finish that post I started earlier, once they finally announced the BCS standings. So, the field of 16 is set. 3 from the SEC, 3 from the Big Ten, and two from the Pac 10. And, of course, 1 from each of the other 8 conferences.

Basil said...

Oh, that 9 that Oregon will score? I'm thinking that if Auburn lets USC score 17, then they probably will let Oregon score 7. Plus, I can see them blocking one of Auburn's extra point attempts and returning it for 2.

Paul Mitchell said...

Dang, Basil, that is the crazy way to let them score nine.

And I cannot wait to see the play-off post, that is one of the yearly blog highlights.

Kinda like Sunday Morning Quarterback USED to be.

Basil said...

Oh, I forgot about one other way. Four Auburn extra-points returned, plus an extra-point safety. All points by the Oregon defensive special teams off of Auburn touchdowns.

Paul Mitchell said...

Basil, I am going to guess that is the way it is going to play out. Excellent.

Andy said...

Sunday Morning Quarterback SUCKED!

And, if Basil's 9 point scenario plays out, I'll buy a chili dog, eat it, and post the pitchers.

I'm saying 3 field goals. Pity field goals.

Basil said...

Tell the truth, Andy. My scenario is awesome. It gets you your nine, and ZERO points scored by Oregon's vaunted offense, not even special teams offense. You would love it.

Andy said...

Oh, I'd love it. But as crazy as football can be, I think my digestive system is safe.

Paul Mitchell said...

OregonGuy, I'll take The Barn...Pay Pal?

Andy said...

I'm in on that one, too.

Didn't get to see much of either team, but the SEC's reputation is what it is. Should be a good game, unless it's a lopsided blow-out. I just know that the Big 12 and Big 10 were nothing but also-rans.

OregonGuy said...

If you have a post box somewhere, I'll just send you the five. When the bet has been one, you can return the favour.

Paul Mitchell said...

Sounds fair.

Basil said...

Isn't $500.00 a lot of cash to send in the mail?

Paul Mitchell said...

basil, I am hoping this was not gambler's terms and was only gentleman's terms.

Oh, never mind, I have Auburn.

Yeah, I'm with you TD. Just checked with The Mrs. who knows ZERO about football. I just told her that it was a team from Alabama playing a team from Oregon...she's willing to risk five Benjamins.
