Looking Back on 2010 with MoM's Family (Post #2600)

Wow, 2010 was some year, huh? If I had known how much things would change for me, I probably would have just stayed in bed.

But, this blogging thing really has done me a world of good. Weird how outspoken I can be, yet never let anyone actually know how much I want to choke the ever-loving shit out of a bunny, huh? The greatest joy that I have had since starting posting on Your MoM has been getting to know different folks across the fruited plain. I really could not care less about folks that make movies, that are on television, or playing professional sports, I would much rather talk to someone that runs their own sandwich shop or dry cleaners. Those are the folks that I migrate toward, and those are the folks that I respect. I love seeing the extraordinary stuff coming from normal folks.

Leonardo DiCaprio or Brit-Farr? Yeah, they can blow me. People like Bobby Roy, that makes the best meatloaf sammich in the world? MY HEROES.

The people that come here and comment, shoot me e-mails throughout the day, and post their lives on their own blogs? MY HEROES.

The relationships that I have with the readers on this Pinnacle of Mediocrity Blarq mean the world to me and I probably do not say that enough. I do not say that enough because I get caught up in my own little world and do not take the time to tell folks that "DAMMIT, I APPRECIATE Y'ALL READING AND COMMENTING ON THIS CRAP."

It always gives me a good feeling when someone e-mails me and says, "You know, I was just thinking about this very topic yesterday and your perspective is so bizarre and confusing that I realized it is not worth thinking about. I feel better now. Thanks."

Glad to help.

Well, anyhoo, this post is not about me at all, it is about you, Dear Friend. You, that makes this blogging thing so very enjoyable. When I sent out the request for y'all to send YOUR favorite posts in, I figured that no one would take the time to link their stuff here. Yeah, I know that you do not want anyone to see the Earmuff Language over here. Seriously, I'll try to do better.

The format of today's program shall be chronological. Memory lane starts in August 2009 and rushes toward today, y'all ready? This is a long one, get a cup of coffee and settle in, it's got really good reading, trust me.

WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, ON TO THE BEST OF THE BLOGSHOW 2010!!!

We would be hard pressed to find a post that better illustrates exactly what I just said above, about HEROES, than Moogie's Katrina's Fourth Birthday Post.

Moogie also turned right around and honored another everyday hero with this post. Plus, Moogie follows that up with her sister-in-law post. Posts like this, the depth, the caring, the concern of one person towards another are always the ones that hook me. Yet, I find it almost impossible to comment on something like this. I swear I'll do better on that.

Not only does Moogie write moving stuff, she also delivers the golf humor. Those six hour Fred rounds drive me nuts, too.

While we are on the topic of sports, Staci, the Sooner homer, sent this in on Boomer. Y'all know I absolutely swoon over college footbaw homers. If you have read this blog for any length of time, you know that Homerisms and trash talking are the highlight of my entire Fall and early Winter.

Our good friend Andy hosed off this post about plumbing leaks in the crawl space. If there is anyone on Planet Earth that has the empathic understanding for this endeavor, that person is ME. But, it sure was funny from this end of the house.

Moogie brings the story of drunk dudes in Nawlins, wearing dresses, and marching. In other words, every Wednesday.

Dean has a post about Barry Obama's ideology and Barry's opinion of Barry. Dean also is the one that came up with the idea for the ordering of this Best of Posting Post. Thanks, Dean!

Full Metal Patriot follows with the exact plan that the Left has for our country. When the Left is candid and try to illustrate their ideology honestly, I pee my pants.

Dean takes future former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to task for her comments on insurance companies. This brings to mind, who is dumber, Nancy Pelosi or the people that elect her?

Following up his post about the dumbest human in the United States, Dean slaps around the planners of Toronto for their stupidity. By the way, the solution to the traffic problem is that everyone get off the road when I need to go somewhere. I'll let y'all know when I get there and y'all can go back to your normal routines. Do not thank me, I am a problem solver.

Andy has some good advice for all you budding dudes around here. Take his advice, marry UP.

Paul J points out that it is ILlegal immigration that is concerning. Yes, we all know that we are talking about Mexicans...

This post from Moogie has almost everything that a moving drama needs, weddings, funerals, sick babies, lawyers leaving careers to raise kids...dang, that might be too much plot for me. I want my life to be BORING.

Ol' Cousin Andy went through a phase this year where he wanted to ruin Wednesday. This post was NO EXCEPTION. I would like to go on record with this wise ol' saw, "Sometimes cameras are EVIL."

Those awful nasty, hateful, racist, violent Teabaggers go wilding. Or not.

As luck would have it, 2010 brought us a youngster back into the fold. I mean no disrespect at all, Boogie is just younger than me, but he is full-on Jerry Mitchell fisking here. I am tired of hearing people talk about the racism in Mississippi back before I was born, too.

After beating Jerry smartly aside the noggin, Boogie wields the cluebat on the entire city of Chicago over their slaughtering ways and gun control. Thanks for clearing that up for them, dude.

Andy decides that his wife needs a stripper name. It is becoming increasingly apparent that Mrs. Andy just threw caution to the wind and married as far down as she could. I think she found out that is necessary for sainthood or something.

One thing that I have noticed with the folks that I like to read is that they are smart as all get out and quick on the draw. Dean gets plagiarized by the GOP. Methinks that the GOP could steal from far worse sources.

Moogie has a tale that is all too familiar to me, dog eats own food, dog creeps out other animals to eat their food, dog explodes. Wendy looked like Pete to a certain extent. Those eyes, those ears...

Moogie kinda loses me on this one, why would anyone write a letter to the city officials in Nawlins? I mean, what are you going to do, write the letter, then go to City Hall to read it to them? It is not like anyone in Nawlins city gummint can read or snything.

Full Metal Patriot has Stalin on the brain. I remember reading that post, too, FMP and I were thinking the exact same things.

Back at the end of August, Dean points out that even more people are coming to the conclusion that Hopium is not the drug of the future. It pains me greatly that few people read Barry Obama's racist hate-screed, Dreams from my Father.

Boogie crunches the numbers on biofuels. BF = BS.

Dean points out that the Barrystream Media has difficulty with math. Boy, if we tried to make a list of the things at which the Barrystream Media sucks at, we would be here a long damned time.

Dean uses bullet points to explain why government creating jobs is sheer fantasy. Yet, there are plenty of people that do not know these bullets by heart. I feel sad for those people.

Andy has corndogs, state fair, kids, and money here. This is a great story with photos. I missed the state fair this year and this post did me just fine.

Paul J delivers the Diane Keaton Career Assessment. With malice. I laughed. (By the way, Paul highly recommends His Excellency: George Washington. There's no better time to read this than NOW.)

Boogie loves Mississippi, Lewis Grizzard, vintage Camaros, and college footbaw. That would make him alright in my book, even though I am a Trans Am guy, myself.

Full Metal Patriot offers a cost-savings measure that yields better results for airline security. I guess this is better than my idea of Hug A Jew or Eat a hot dog.

Full Metal Patriot brings us that moron, Ted Rall, talking about violent revolution. I am all for the "Progressives" throwing a fit and getting violent, but I will never hit a woman.

Folks, this post took almost twelve times longer than the time limit that I have set and maintained for all of my blog posts. I enjoyed every minute of it, too.

Y'all produce the best stuff I have ever read. I am glad to consider you folks my friends. Please, whatever y'all do, keep up the good work and I cannot wait to do this again next year.

Here's to a great 2011! Cheers, y'all.

Please take the time to comment.

I didn't rate in that line-up, but then again, I wouldn't ;-) Some danged good stuff comin' from them thar! May 2011 see more of the same.

And from your esteemed self, MoM. Keep drivin' the OSOs, CAS, EG, et al, crazy with logic that pounds their fool ideology into shopping cart circles.

Perhaps soon to have time on my hands, I might have ta try that...

Skunks, you are so full of crap, that brilliant takedown of the college kid you did is forever burned into my frontal lobe. I certainly hope I posted every link that I was sent.

As Skunkfeathers pointed out, to the MoM himself, saaaaaaaaaaaaaaalute!

Andy said...

Yeah, Skunks...don't be blaming TD! He posted links to all the crap I sent him. You just didn't love us enough to wade through your brilliance and participate.

Shame on ya', too!

Leonardo DiCaprio or Brit-Farr? Yeah, they can blow me. People like Bobby Roy, that makes the best meatloaf sammich in the world? MY HEROES. Indeed, TD!

Well did, my friend. Well did!

Dude, I have so WAY enjoyed the ride, and appreciated the friendship, as I KNOW the others have. One of the bright spots of the past couple of years was running in to you over at Patrick's joint. Well, I'm gonna quit, because I know you don't appreciate "sappy." Nyuk...

Looking forward to '11, sir!

BTW, I'm glad you finally brought another youngun into the fambly. Boogie's good folks, and since CL divorced himself from us, we surely needed some fresh eyes, and young muscles to do the lifting.

MoM, thanks for the links. I'm honored to be listed with the good folks here. And have enjoyed finding several new blogs to follow from this post, too.

Happy New Year, y'all!

You like HERO sandwhiches?

Thanks for the link!

Paul Mitchell said...

Dean, I do like Hero sammiches. I really cannot think of but one or two sammiches that I do not like. Banana and horseradish comes to mind as a DON'T LIKE, immediately.

Happy new year!!

Paul Mitchell said...

Thanks, Matthew, y'all keep up the good work and that shall help much.

Andy, I consider mahsef properly shamed. Eh ;-)

At any rate, I started the New Year linking you and Paul. You've been linked...mwhahahaha.

Awesome stuff, TD.

All the best in 2011.

Wow! I feel so very published! This was one heckuva time-eater to compile, and I promise I'm going to read every single link. Thanks for doing it and for trying to educate we, the masses. It's a dirty job, but someone not progressive's gotta do it! Happy New Year! And thanks to Andy for pointing me in your direction. That's the gift that keeps on giving!

Moogie, your submissions would have me laughing one minute and crying the next. My neighbors came over and asked if I was okay. They honestly thought I was bent.
