Iran - One Man's Opinion

I really could not care any less about Iran. Sorry, they are Muslims and they act like Muslims. Since they are killing their own, there are fewer Muslims to worry about killing us non-Muslims.

Others seem to feel and think differently.

Steve B backs up his opinion with history. That is certainly a good starting point.

Christina Jade points out that the similarities in the two factions. Six in one hand, half a dozen in the other.

But, the really important thing about the whole situation is that My Space is cutting staff by 30% in the United States. That is what happens when YOU SUCK.

Please take the time to comment.

Not surprised in the least that MySpace is cutting back, actually, I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner. While it was novel for a while, with hosting as affordable as it is now, it seems as though the general population has outgrown MySpace. I can't stand it over there anymore.

I think it intriguing that we are seeing these cracks in the propoganda screen. All the rhetoric about the Great Satan, yada yada yada.

And yet, clearly a lot of Iranians speak english, and are going to great lengths to interact with the western world via twitter, the internet, etc.

It's my suspicion that the average, fairly secular Iranian is far less anti-west than we are often led to believe.

The social unrest in Iran has been boiling since the Islamic Revolution in '79. It seems that more recently, the lid can't be kept on the pot anymore, and more Iranians who reject fundamentalist Islam AND the direction their president is trying to take them, are putting life and limb at risk to speak out.

I have an in-law of Iranian heritage, with family still over there, so I get interesting looks into the mindset. The most interesting one was a regret expressed by his family members, still in Iran, that when the US took out Saddam, we didn't continue the war on terror with a logical follow-up: a march to Teheran.

I'll be interested to see how the mullahs put this genie back in the bottle, without a Tianamen Square performance.

Skunky, there are reports that some of the Imams have joined the protesters. Also, Neda's family has disappeared, too.
